Brett Kavanaugh’s Hypocrisy on Display: A Supreme Court Justice Who Talks Liberty While Handing Power to Trump

In a stunning display of irony, Justice Brett Kavanaugh stood before a crowd in Waco, Texas. He praised the American system for its checks on power — all while being one of the key figures enabling Donald Trump’s authoritarian ambitions.

Kavanaugh, speaking at an event honoring his former mentor Kenneth Starr, invoked the Founding Fathers and their grievances against King George III, claiming that “no one person or group of people should have too much power.” Yet this is the same justice who has repeatedly sided with Trump in decisions that have dangerously concentrated power in the hands of one man.

Let’s be clear: Kavanaugh’s record on the bench has been a rubber stamp for Trump’s most egregious abuses. From shielding Trump from prosecution for his attempted coup after losing the 2020 election to greenlighting sweeping immigration raids that terrorize communities, Kavanaugh has shown time and again that his loyalty lies not with the Constitution but with the MAGA agenda.

Outside the event, protesters made their voices heard. Signs reading “BK – Trump Flunky” and “Shame on You. No One is Above the Law” captured the frustration of Americans who see the Supreme Court being hijacked by partisan operatives masquerading as impartial judges.

Kavanaugh’s appearance was a tribute to Kenneth Starr — a man whose legacy is riddled with scandal and hypocrisy. Starr, best known for his obsessive pursuit of Bill Clinton over a consensual affair, later represented Jeffrey Epstein and was ousted from Baylor University amid a sexual assault scandal. This is the man Kavanaugh calls a “hero.”

And let’s not forget Kavanaugh’s own history. During his confirmation hearings, he lashed out at credible allegations of sexual misconduct, blaming it all on “revenge on behalf of the Clintons.” His tirade was a masterclass in deflection and entitlement, and yet the GOP pushed him through, ignoring the voices of survivors and the rule of law.

The Trump administration’s influence over the judiciary is one of its most significant and potentially damaging legacies. With justices like Kavanaugh on the bench, Trump has been able to dodge accountability, weaponize immigration policy, and undermine democratic norms — all while claiming victimhood.

Kavanaugh’s speech in Waco was not a celebration of liberty. It was a chilling reminder of how far the Supreme Court has fallen — from a guardian of justice to a tool of authoritarianism. The American people deserve better than this judicial gaslighting. They deserve justices who uphold the Constitution, not those who twist it to serve a disgraced former president.
